Waitrose in Staines made us one of their charities for October and raised £500 for us. Each month every Waitrose branch shares a donation of £1,000 between their three local good causes.

Everyone who shopped in the store was given a green token and they voted for us by putting their token in our box in the store. Thank you to everyone who supported us with their token and to Waitrose Staines for their generous donation.

A BIG thank you to Doreen Wilcocks and Garry Potts, the Ladies' and Men's Captains at Sunbury Golf Club, for nominating CREST Cancer Support as one of their charities for 2013-2014. Hilary was delighted to accept a cheque for £2,250 on behalf of CREST at the Club's AGM in October.

The Sunbury Golf Club Members have been superb and extremely generous in supporting the Captains' fundraising activities, which have included the Captains’ drive-in charity golf days, poker games and a Tribute Band evening. We are so very grateful to them all.

Windsor Castle Lodge

Windsor Castle Lodge Grant

CREST Cancer Support are very grateful to the Windsor Castle Lodge of the Freemasons of Berkshire for their extremely generous cheque for £500. Our charity has no formal funding and this grant has enabled us to replace our worn out printer/copier and buy enough ink and toner to produce our newsletters and Relaxation Day invitations for the next six months. We had also been struggling with a flimsy paper cutter and are delighted to have been able to buy a sturdy model as well.

We try to spend most of the money we receive through donations to directly benefit our patients and carers, which means that we rely heavily on grants from organisations such as this to replace the essential office equipment and supplies. Without their help we would be unable to support our members and provide them with the services they need.

Spelthorne Council

Spelthorne Council Cabinet Grant

We are delighted to have been awarded a grant of £800 by Spelthorne's Council Cabinet towards the cost of the next Relaxation Day.

"Spelthorne Council is pleased to support Crest Cancer Support in this way, and acknowledges the immense amount of hard work and dedication they all put into keeping the organisation thriving," said Councillor Jean Pinkerton, Cabinet Member responsible for health, well-being and independent living. "Without their tireless effort and enthusiasm, those who benefit from their many and varied activities would be very much the poorer. We know that every pound they receive is spent wisely and the benefits for cancer patients and their carers are immeasurable."

Councillors

Councillors donate Community Grant

We are very grateful to Christine Bannister, Mark Francis and Alan Patterson, Spelthorne Borough Councillors for Staines, who each donated £100 from their Community Grants.

Masonic Province of Middlesex Charitable Trust

Thanks to Joan's hard work making a compelling funding application we are very pleased to have been awarded £3,000 by our local Masonic Lodge. This generous donation will enable us to continue to run the office and provide our support services, training and Relaxation Days.

Donation from the Rotary Club of Shepperton Aurora

Louise receives the cheque

CREST was invited to speak to members of the Rotary Club of Shepperton Aurora at their weekly breakfast meeting on September 21st. Joan and Louise were delighted to receive a cheque for £50, which was presented by the Club's president Mr Douglas Dick.

We are very grateful for their donation and the opportunity to raise awareness of CREST.
