Sainsbury's Staines
Community Charity Partnership 2012-2014

Sainsburys

Well, all good things must come to an end and we are very sorry to say that our time as the Community Charity for Sainsbury's in Staines has now finished.

We were very lucky to have their support for two years and will miss working with them and taking part in their fundraising events. We are very grateful to all of the colleagues who worked so hard to raise money for us.

We would particularly like to thank Shelly and Celia for all they've done for us and we were very pleased to be able to welcome them to our office last week when they came to present us with a cheque for the total raised in 2013-2014 - a fantastic £1,444!

Sainsburys

Over the two years they have raised nearly £3,000, which helps us carry on supporting local cancer patients and their carers.
So on behalf of all CREST members,

Easter bag-packing raises an egg-stremely good £390!

Well, it was the last fundraising event of our two-year partnership with the fantastic colleagues at Sainsbury's in Staines - and what a Grand Finale it was!

Sainsburys

There were twelve CREST members and volunteers helping at the checkouts on Easter Saturday and we were amazed at the generosity of some of the customers. Many people were delighted to have some help packing their Easter shopping or taking it out to their car. Others preferred to pack their own bags - but gave us a donation anyway!

All in all we raised £390.19 plus one trolley token, 1 Turkish Lira and 20c - not bad for 3 hours' work!

Spring tombola makes a fantastic £167!

The fabulous colleagues at Sainsbury's in Staines had planned to hold a tombola on Valentine's Day but the weather was awful and the area was flooded so they postponed it to March 1st - and the sun shone for us!

Sainsburys Sainsburys

There were over a hundred brilliant prizes with something for everyone - chocolates, wine, toys, gifts and toiletries. In fact there were so many prizes we couldn't fit them all on the table and we had to use two milk trolleys as well!

There were also collection tins in the store and we raised:

making a grand total of £167.68!

Thank you to everyone who took part - colleagues, volunteers and shoppers - we really do appreciate all the hard work that goes into making a fundraising event like this a success!

Christmas Carols raise an incredible £887!

On December 14th two local choirs delighted shoppers with their seasonal songs and carols. We are very grateful to all the members of the Sainsbury's choir who made such a fantastic effort, and also to the Spelthorne Choir who donated their collection to us.

At the same time, colleagues from Sainsbury's also held a festive tombola with lots of exciting prizes and the proceeds from this and the "bucket collections" raised the fantastic total of £887.57!

We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who took part - the Sainsbury's and Spelthorne choirs for singing, and all the colleagues and volunteers who worked so hard to make this fundraiser such a success.

Colleagues raise an amazing £1,502.35 in 2012-2013!

Presentation

Last year, colleagues from Sainsbury's in Staines voted to make CREST their local charity partner for 2012-2013 and they fundraised, publicised CREST and offered us general help.

On July 31st Joan and Sarah were absolutely delighted to be asked to accept a cheque for £1502.35 on behalf of all the members of CREST.

This fantastic total represents the results of a year of fundraising by the colleagues at Sainsbury's in Staines who have given their time, enthusiasm and money to support us.

We are very grateful to them for all their hard work and can assure them that every penny will be used to help our members.

Easter Tombola tips the total over a grand!

Easter tombola

The Easter tombola held in store on 27th March raised an egg-stremely good £101.68 - taking the grand total to £1,082! Shelly, Celia and Louise were very pleased to raise so much when times are hard for many people and would like to thank everyone who contributed prizes or bought tickets.

Egham Junior Band plays for CREST at Christmas

On 15th December Egham Junior Brass Band played in the shop and collected £201 for CREST. Thank you to all the band members who gave their time freely to entertain the customers and raise funds for us. They played again on the 22nd - this time they were outside in the cold but they still gave a fantastic performance which was enjoyed by everyone and collected another £139.41!

Colleagues help at our Relaxation Day on November 10th

Jo, Sarah and Paul cheerfully stood in the rain for over an hour on Saturday to help Peter direct our patients, carers and therapists to the car parks. They did a great job packing all the cars in and making sure everyone went to the right place and we are very grateful to them all for giving up their time to help our day run smoothly.

Halloween Events in October raise a huge £320!

Sainsbury's ran two fundraising events for Halloween in the Staines store to raise so much money for us.

Firstly, Colleagues were invited to come to work in themed costumes in return for a donation to CREST - and the costumes were out of this world...

Community Grant

Bag for Life

Sainsbury's have awarded CREST a grant of £300 towards the cost of refreshments for the Relaxation Day which will be a fantastic help and we are very grateful.

Sainsbury's Community Grants are funded by sales of Bags for Life - the bags sold as alternatives to plastic carrier bags. Grants are made to charities and charitable organisations that promote healthy eating and active lifestyles in the local community.

Sainsbury's Staines Colleague Council

Colleague Council

We were delighted to be invited to meet the members of the Colleague Council in July and discuss how we could work together to help CREST.
