Some pictures from November 2017

Our November Relaxation Day was just the thing to give us all a boost in the run up to Christmas. Jenny, Ken and Louise were waiting to greet you when you arrived and give you details of your treatment and workshop, then there was time for a hot drink before the day began. There was a real buzz in the cafe as people met old friends again and made some new ones.

The sun was shining for the short walk over to the Pathways building for those having a reiki or reflexology treatment or joining the singing workshop. If you stayed in Rendezvous you could learn to draw caricatures, do Christmas crafts, take part in a guided relaxation workshop or have an aromatherapy massage.

There was a lot going on behind the scenes while the workshops and treatments were taking place. The car park volunteers needed a hot cuppa to warm up but the kitchen volunteers were still hard at work preparing lunch!

At the end of the day the singing groups entertained us to a short concert and we all joined in with Edna's hilarious song.

Rennies and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Zimmers and cataracts and hearing aids and passes,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth and glassses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pipes leak, when the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favourite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot foods or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and hot pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames
When we remember our favourite things.

When the joins ache, when the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had
And then I don't feel so bad.

After that, all that was left was to draw the raffle and thank everyone for coming and all the volunteers for their help. Hope to see you again soon at another CREST event!
