£1,500 – and still counting!

The Rotary club of Shepperton and Sunbury invited CREST to take part in the 10km sponsored walk of the “Waterways of Shepperton” again this year.

So, on Sunday 12th May, Janice, Geraldine, Isobel, Debbie, Jo, Linda, Mary, Alison, Lisa and Joan took up the challenge to raise money for CREST.

They set off at 10 and it was a lovely day for a walk – not too hot, not too cold, just right! Their route took them through the Shepperton nature reserve, round the lake, past the sailing club and across the motorway bridge to the Kingfisher on Chertsey bridge for a very welcome comfort break before carrying on across the Meads and along the river, arriving back at the car park at about 1 o’clock.

And how much money did our walkers raise? Well, we’ve counted over £1,500 so far!

Without Peter and his team organising the event we would never have been able to raise so much for CREST. They had taken care of every detail - the parking charges were suspended for the walkers, water and comfort breaks were organised, and there were even first-aiders walking with all their kit.

A big thank you to everyone involved – the organisers, the walkers and, of course, everyone who sponsored them.

Geraldine, Janice and Isobel presented Joan with their cheque for £700 on May 12th. What a fantastic achievement!
